MAIN AND CONTRAST COLORS

In DesignaKnit

123.pat For this practice, download and save this design to a floppy disk, thumb drive, or your hard drive.  (Remember where you downloaded it.)

Setting the main color for Multi-Color knitting

(Fairisle, Weaving, etc.)

Start DesignaKnit and then Stitch Designer.  Click File - Open then locate and open the 123.pat file.

Next, set the main color by clicking Palettes - Main and Contrast. Position the mouse pointer over the main color then left-click over that color. An “X” signifies it is now the main color.

For multi-color knitting, the main color is the yarn placed in feeder 1.

TIP:  Always check the design's main color, including designs you purchased or punched yourself.

Setting the main color for Single Color knitting

(Tuck, Slip, etc.)

For our sample stitch design, black needs to set as the main color for this design to slip or tuck on your knitting machine.

For slip, the main color is the stitch that slips.

For tuck, the main color is the stitch that tucks.

Download to your machine and knit a small sample swatch to test this stitch design.  If it knitted correctly, you've done it!

That was easy, wasn't it?!
